Happy Mother’s Day!!!!

Today was a WONDERFUL family filled day. We decided to head out to Vernonia to try a bike trail they have out there. It had something for everyone in the family. There are 12-miles of paved trail and 9-miles of rugged trail. Since this was Catherine’s first time to ride somewhere other than our street we wanted something easy for her. This fit the bill perfectly and still let the boys have some fun on the rugged stuff!!

Here are some pictures of the trails.

Before hitting the trails, we decided to have some lunch. We stopped at this little hole in the wall diner (The Black Bear Coffee Diner) that just happened to have outdoor seating right next to the parking lot, so we could keep an eye on our bikes. What a find!!!! It was some of the best food we have had in awhile. Marshall and Tim had bacon cheeseburgers, Harrison had a chicken strip burger, I had a turkey, cream cheese and cranberry sauce sandwich and Catherine had chicken nuggets. It is certainly a place that we will hit again!!!

Long Slow Death

I spend so much time on facebook these days that I forget about this poor little neglected blog. Not sure that anyone other than Kristi really reads it anyway.

What to do? Kill it off quickly or just let it slowly die?

Then again, so many people are worried that facebook is going to start charging people to belong so maybe I should keep this blog going.

Moving Up…..

Marshall’s basketball team got their asses handed to them on a silver platter Monday night. Marshall was very disappointed because he didn’t start and didn’t even enter the game until late in the 2nd period. He played about 2 minutes in the third and 2 minutes in the 4th. Oh well. I don’t complain like some parents do because I am not a coach. There must be some reason why Marshall is not getting the play time he wants. When he is on the court he HUSTLES. But he could not rebound for crap on Monday and never took a shot.

Anyway…..Tim and I received this email tonight from his coach:

“I wanted to let you know that after last game and today’s practice, I’ve decided that Marshall has earned a starting spot. I’ve told him tonight at the beginning of practice that he was fighting for it with XXX and that I was going to make my decision after practice. He’s really earned it with his hustle and aggressive play. I’m letting you know so you can have the background in my decision and ask that you continue to encourage this at home as well. It’s really up for him to lose the starting spot and as long as he continues to hustle and be aggressive, I really don’t see him giving that spot up.

His biggest weakness right now is that he drifts off when things are being explained and needs to be reminded once we start going through the motion. I’m hoping that with him now being a starter, this will peak in interest to do better in paying attention. Any help you can do at home to encourage him on this front would help tremendously.”

I had to laugh about the drifting off thing because when we were driving home on Monday we asked him what the coach said after the game and he could remember the coach saying “we played with our heads up our asses”. Uuuhhhh…..the coached talked for about 20 minutes. So unless he needed about 2 and half minutes per word, a lot more was said!!!! LOL

Switch Back

I guess some people were seeing funky stuff when I switched to my holiday page. It looked fine on my computer, but I went ahead and went back to the boring pink.
